Empowering Young Warriors: The Pretty Princess Project by Shaindel Shemula Leyton

Date:

In the world of jewellery and philanthropy, Shaindel Shemula Leyton stands out with her unique initiative, the Pretty Princess Project. This heartfelt endeavour blends elegance with empathy, bringing a touch of glamour to girls battling severe illnesses. But how did a simple set of jewellery evolve into a beacon of hope for so many? Let’s dive into the inspiring story behind this project and see how it’s transforming lives.

The Spark Behind the Pretty Princess Project

Shaindel Shemula Leyton, the founder of Shain Leyton Jewelry in Los Angeles, is not just a jewellery designer; she’s a visionary with a heart for service. At a recent L.A. Huddle event, Leyton was invited to speak about balancing entrepreneurship with family life. Instead of focusing solely on business strategies, she chose to highlight how feminine qualities can drive success in the entrepreneurial world.

During her speech, Leyton pondered a transformative idea. “What if we used our feminine attributes to make a real difference in people’s lives?” she wondered. This question led her to combine her passion for jewellery with her long-standing volunteer work.

From Concept to Reality: The Journey of a Heartfelt Initiative

Leyton’s connection with Chai Lifeline, a prominent organisation supporting families with terminally ill children, became the catalyst for her project. Chai Lifeline’s mission includes providing emotional support, covering hospital expenses, and offering a range of other services to families in need.

When Leyton learned about 10-year-old Skyler, a brave girl fighting an aggressive cancer, she saw an opportunity to bring a touch of joy to a challenging situation. Skyler’s mother, Flora, suggested that a set of jewellery might brighten Skyler’s hospital stay. This simple yet profound idea led to the birth of the Pretty Princess Project.

The Magic of a Princess Makeover

Armed with a 14-karat gold Star of David necklace and matching star earrings, Leyton visited Skyler in the hospital. She proposed a photoshoot for the Pretty Princess Project, and Skyler’s reaction was priceless. The young girl, who had endured so much, was thrilled at the prospect of being a model, complete with a pretty dress, makeup, and even a crown.

“Seeing Skyler transform from a girl struggling with severe illness to a glowing princess was nothing short of miraculous,” Leyton recalls. The three-hour shoot was a celebration of Skyler’s strength and spirit. The jewellery, while a simple gift, became a symbol of hope and resilience.

Expanding Horizons: How the Project Grows

Since its inception, the Pretty Princess Project has grown significantly. Leyton’s initiative is more than just a charitable act; it’s a movement. For every jewellery set sold by Shain Leyton Jewelry, another set is donated to girls facing serious health challenges.

Leyton’s commitment extends beyond the borders of the United States. With the help of Israeli actress Swell Ariel Or, Leyton has sent jewellery to Israel. This includes necklaces for Yasmeen Ohebsion, a Tulane University student who bravely spoke out about antisemitism and later visited Israel to address the Knesset and visit hospitals.

A Family Legacy of Giving Back

Leyton’s commitment to service also influences her family. As a mother of three, she actively involves her children in her volunteer work. “I want my kids to understand the value of giving back and the importance of helping others,” she says. By taking her children to Chai Lifeline events and explaining her work, Leyton ensures that they learn the significance of compassion and community support.

Why the Pretty Princess Project Matters

The Pretty Princess Project exemplifies how personal passions can merge with philanthropic goals to create something truly special. Leyton’s approach highlights the impact of small gestures, like gifting jewellery, on those facing immense challenges.

This project is not just about giving jewellery; it’s about giving hope, joy, and a sense of normalcy to young girls who need it most. The transformation seen in these girls, from feeling isolated due to their illness to being celebrated and cherished, underscores the profound effect of such initiatives.

What’s Next for the Pretty Princess Project?

As the project continues to grow, Leyton plans to expand its reach and impact. By partnering with more organisations and involving her community, she aims to bring the magic of the Pretty Princess Project to even more children and families.
