The second edition of the Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp has officially begun, offering a fantastic opportunity for students, teachers, and principals from PM-SHRI schools across India. Launched jointly by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), and the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell (MIC), this bootcamp is set to ignite creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among young minds.
What Is the IDE Bootcamp All About?
The IDE Bootcamp is designed to develop innovation and entrepreneurial skills among secondary and senior secondary students, along with teachers and principals of PM-SHRI schools. This year, the bootcamp will run from 4 to 19 September 2024 in ten different locations across India.

The bootcamp was inaugurated virtually by prominent figures in education and innovation:
- TG Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE: Emphasised the importance of the bootcamp in transforming students into future innovators and entrepreneurs.
- Vipin Kumar, Additional Secretary of DoSEL: Highlighted the overwhelming response with 1,800 registrations from across the nation.
- Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman of AICTE: Stressed the bootcamp’s role in equipping participants with crucial skills for the evolving global landscape.

The Broader Impact: KAPILA and IP Literacy
In addition to the IDE Bootcamp, the AICTE, in collaboration with DoSEL and MIC, launched the Kalam Program for IP Literacy and Awareness (KAPILA). This programme aims to:
- Educate About Intellectual Property (IP): Increase awareness about IP filing and protection.
- Support Patent Filings: Provide funding support for 15,000 patent filings in higher education and 1,000 for schools during the 2024-25 academic year.
