C-Edge College Hosts Groundbreaking Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Events

C-Edge College recently took significant steps towards empowering local communities by hosting two impactful events focused on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. These initiatives were designed to foster financial understanding among homemakers and ignite entrepreneurial spirit among students.

Financial Literacy Awareness for Homemakers: A Success Story

On August 20, C-Edge College’s Research Committee orchestrated a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme aimed specifically at homemakers. This initiative, supported by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and the North Eastern Training Research and Advocacy (NETRA) Foundation, sought to enhance financial knowledge among homemakers in the Naga United area.

The event featured two comprehensive sessions:

  • Session 1: “Financial Literacy for Homemakers”
    Led by T. Lhingneikim, Manager of Financial Inclusion at SBI Regional Business Office Dimapur, this session provided practical advice on setting financial goals and utilising government schemes effectively.

  • Session 2: “Investment Avenues”
    Presented by Shiva Prasad Dey, Assistant Professor of Management Studies at C-Edge College, this session explored various investment opportunities and strategies for growing small investments in alignment with market trends.

With 18 participants from Self-Help Groups, the event was coordinated by Dr. Moameren Pongen of St. Joseph University, alongside Yimwapangla and Shiva Prasad Dey from C-Edge College. The session was overseen by Yajennaro, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and began with a welcome address from Dr. Chubatola Aier, Principal of C-Edge College.

World Entrepreneurs Day: Fostering Innovation and Business Acumen

The following day, August 21, C-Edge College celebrated World Entrepreneurs Day with the theme “Celebrating Groundbreakers Who Transform Ideas into Reality.” Organised by the Department of Management Studies, this event aimed to inspire students and recognise the contributions of entrepreneurs.

Held at the GK Auditorium, the day’s highlights included:

  • Invocation by Chaam: A student from BBA 3rd Semester.
  • Opening Address by Wapanginla Ao: Head of the Department and Dean of Management Studies.
  • Panel Discussion: Featuring the Kaki Marketing team, led by Managing Director Kakivi Chishi, who discussed current business trends and strategies. The discussion was moderated by Thejasikho Vakha, a BBA V Semester student.

A major announcement was the launch of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at C-Edge College. In partnership with Educentre Business School and the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, the EDC aims to support and guide aspiring entrepreneurs. Incale Iswarang, EDC Coordinator and Social Media Manager of Educentre, provided insights into the centre’s operations.

The event also saw the conclusion of the business venture competition “The Entrepreneur,” with Team Hains Enterprise, comprising BBA I Semester students, declared the 2024 winner. Additionally, the University Level Merit Awards were presented to outstanding students and departments, with Dr. Chubatola Aier presiding over the ceremony.
